Swimming lesson Lesson 4

Hello blogging world,

Yesterday was our fourth swimming lesson and we wore life jackets in the big, deep pool at Cameron pools. We first had to get changed into our swimming togs then wear a life jacket that was our size. Most of the life jackets were already worn on and the water that was dripping from the life jacket was COLD! It was very difficult to swim with our life jackets.

In the pool we were practicing first how to slide into the pool and how to climb out of the pool. For me it was hard to climb out of the pool because I kept falling in the pool all over again. But when I tried to climb into the pool my friends helped me.

When we were also practicing what to do when were stuck in the sea or the ocean. We try to warm yourself up with other people stuck with us, and we do that by huddling together and we are also trying to do this to prevent hypothermia. Hypothermia is when you get cold and you might act crazy.

We also did a practice when we on this board but we pretend its a ship so we pretend that there were waves so the people not on the boat are splashing waves because we were in split teams but we had the same instructor. After that we pretended that the ship broke and we fell of the boat so we huddled up and 3, 2, 1 we took our feet of the ground to prevent hypothermia. Then we waved for help so the opposite team was on the wall and then through a floating noodle that you use to float. The threw it and then pulled us, at last they pulled us up then we did the same thing but swapping over.

Hope you enjoyed reading my blog post,

Blog ya later!

  1. Talofa Lava Kanishka,
Swimming sounds like lots of fun as well as lots of learning! I like that they are pretending you are stuck in the ocean and you are learning to keep warm so you don't get hypothermia. I guess life jackets are made for floating in so that is probably why you found it hard to swim in. Did you feel like you could relax and float for a long time with the life jacket on?
